ART EXPLORATORY
6th Grade Elective - 1 Semester (Every other day)

Art in the sixth grade continues the study of the basics elements and principles of design. Areas of study include work in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and fibers. Improved craftsmanship and presentation in the finished product is stressed. Art history, criticism and aesthetics are correlated with projects introduced in the class.

This course is for students that want to explore both 2D or 3D art and it is recommended for seventh and eight grade students who wish to take Art 2D or Art 3D and did not take Exploratory Art in sixth grade. Students selecting Explorations in Art will work in several different art areas. They will explore art though experiences in drawing, painting, printmaking, clay techniques, sculpting, fibers and art metals. The course combines art production with extended experiences in art history, criticism and aesthetics.

This course is for students who seek extended experiences in drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students will also study the lives and works of selected two dimensional artists. The course combines art production with extended experiences in art history, criticism, and aesthetics.

Students in this course will seek extended experiences in both additive and subtractive sculpture by using a variety of materials such as clay, fibers, plaster, wood, wire and art metals. The study of selected artists noted for their three dimensional works will be included. The course combines art production with extended experience in art history, criticism and aesthetics. |
