Students studied Ancient Egyptian art including hieroglyphics and Egyptian gods and goddesses. Students created their own Egyptian relief carvings in plaster based on Ancient Egyptian art. First students made sketches on white paper and then transferred their designs to plaster (drywall with the first layer of paper peeled off!). Students experimented with different carving techniques and added color to their sculptures using watercolors.
